Grocery bills keep climbing, but what if your receipts could pay you back?

Receipt scanning apps make it easy to earn cash, gift cards, and other rewards just by snapping a photo of your receipt.

Whether you’re shopping for groceries, gas, or everyday items, these apps help you save without extra effort.

Here are 9 of the best apps that turn your receipts into real money.

1. Fetch Rewards

Fetch Rewards is a simple app that gives you points for scanning your receipts from shopping trips, whether that’s from the grocery store or even the gas station.

All you need to do is shop like you normally would, then open the Fetch Rewards app and snap a photo of your receipt.

Each time you upload a receipt, you earn points that can be redeemed for free gift cards to popular places like Amazon, Target, and Visa, along with other reward options.

What I enjoy about this app is how easy to use it is. I’ve personally used it for a long time, and it makes it incredibly easy to earn rewards from everyday purchases.

2. Rakuten

Rakuten is one of the top cashback platforms that gives you rewards for shopping online. While it’s not exactly a receipt-scanning app, you still earn cashback by shopping the way you normally do.

To get started, simply pick a store you’d like to shop from options include Kohl’s, REI, Toys “R” Us, and many others and continue with your regular online shopping. That’s really all it takes!

Rakuten gets paid a commission for referring you to those stores, and then they pass a portion of that money back to you as cashback. It’s a simple system where everyone benefits.

3. Ibotta

Ibotta is an app that helps you earn cash back on groceries, household items, and more by scanning your receipts.

To get started, browse from over 500 offers in the app and add the ones you want to your shopping list. Then shop at one of more than 300 participating stores, either in-person or online. After your purchase, take a clear photo of your receipt or link your store loyalty card to automatically get credit.

You can cashout through PayPal, a bank transfer, or select gift cards once you reach the minimum payout amount of $20.

4. Dosh

Dosh is a quick and convenient app that automatically provides cashback when you make purchases at partnered retailers like Disney, Costco, Lyft, AT&T, and thousands of other businesses.

To get started, all you need to do is connect your debit or credit card to the app or even link it with your Venmo or bank account. After that, everything runs on autopilot.

Whenever you shop using the linked card, cashback is deposited into your Dosh account, and you can then transfer those funds to your bank or PayPal account.

5. ReceiptPal

ReceiptPal is a mobile app that lets you earn rewards just by submitting your shopping receipts.

Using ReceiptPal, you can snap photos of your physical receipts or connect your email and Amazon account to automatically collect points with every receipt you provide.

Those points can be redeemed for gift cards to well-known retailers, and each receipt you upload also gives you an entry into their weekly sweepstakes, offering you the chance to win cash prizes.

6. Checkout 51

Checkout 51 is another platform that allows you to earn cash back on both grocery and fuel purchases.

To get started, download the free app from either the App Store or Google Play. Browse the available offers in the app and create your shopping list—it’s similar to using digital coupons.

After shopping, tap on “Redeem” and select the items that appear on your receipt. Then, use the in-app camera feature to capture clear and legible images of your receipt.

Once your submission is reviewed and approved, the cashback will be credited to your account. You can request a payout once your balance reaches $20.

7. Shopkick

Shopkick rewards users with points called “kicks” for scanning receipts, barcodes, or even watching videos and viewing content in the app.

Users can even earn kicks without making a purchase. Simply entering a participating store or scanning a product can earn rewards. Buying in-store using a linked card earns 6 kicks per dollar spent.

Nearby participating stores are listed in the app. Availability and reward types vary by location and store. Some stores award kicks just for entering; others require scans or purchases.

Kicks can be redeemed for gift cards to major retailers including Amazon, Target, Sephora, and Starbucks.

8. Receipt Hog

Receipt Hog is an enjoyable and user-friendly app that rewards you when you scan your shopping receipts. Simply snap a photo of your receipt through the app, and you’ll start earning rewards.

You can shop at any store—whether it’s a grocery store, convenience store, or others—both in physical locations and online. Then, upload your paper or digital receipts to Receipt Hog to earn coins, spin slots, or gain entries into sweepstakes.

Additionally, you can connect your Amazon account or link loyalty accounts from retailers like Walmart, Target, and Costco to earn rewards automatically, without the need to manually upload receipts.

9. Upromise

Upromise is a platform designed to help you save money for college by scanning your shopping receipts.

When you make purchases at participating stores and submit your receipts, a portion of what you spend is contributed to a college savings fund or applied toward paying down student loans.

Using Upromise Grocery Rewards is simple: add available deals to your Upromise Grocery Rewards shopping list by clicking the “Add To List” button.

Then, shop either in-store or online, and once you’re finished, upload a photo of your receipt. You also have the option to email your receipt directly to Upromise for credit.
